Chapter History

The Ann Arbor Area Alumnae Chapter was started as a club in 1985 and became a chartered alumnae chapter in October 1987. For over 25 consecutive years, we have been a Crown Chapter Award-winning group that assists local, regional and national organizations through a variety of philanthropic events.  We are active supporting our local collegiate chapters, and our members have served  and continue to serve as advisors to our Alpha Gamma and Beta Phi chapters.  We represent ZTA at the Panhellenic Alumnae Council at the University of Michigan. Our members are proud to continue the tradition serving the Fraternity at the National Level; three of our members have received the Honor Ring for sustained service at the national and local level, and multiple members have received the Certificate of Merit for sustained service at the local level. Our membership also includes several members who have received the Order of the Shield, representing 50 years of membership in Zeta Tau Alpha.
